The Cognac producers’ association, the SMC (Syndicat des Maisons de Cognac) has brought together Cognac houses since 2008. 39 Cognac producers representing 99% of shipments meet and consult with one another.
The goal of the SMC is to represent and defend the interests of its members, promote consumer demand for Cognac and defend the reputation of Cognac and Cognac houses in France and abroad. It also aims to foster discussions between Cognac houses and the Cognac sector at large.
A word from the President
Cognac is a geographical indication and an outstanding wine spirit, which has achieved huge success on international markets, with up to 98% of production exported.
It is sold by Cognac producers whose job is to craft, promote and market Cognac, thus showcasing French expertise in over 150 countries. Cognac producers are a real asset to our region. Beyond their commercial power, they create jobs, work together to protect the environment and enable investment in local means of production.
As President of the Syndicat des Maisons de Cognac, and alongside all its members, I will do my best to meet these challenges to ensure sustainable growth, showcase the diversity of our Cognac houses, protect the environment and share the quality of our products and our genuine expertise with the world.
